Máté Négyessy

Máté Négyessy is a third-year International Relations student at Pázmány Péter Catholic University. His interest in social science, communication and design gave him international opportunities such as the Erasmus+ (Greece, Italy, Germany) where he gained valuable insights relating to global challenges (e.g. sustainable development).

He completed his academic internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, with a desire to learn more about the basic structure of multilateral relations and diplomacy as an intern for the UN department.

His beyond design approach in visual communication allowed him to use the toolkit of social science to deliver award-winning solutions which aimed to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional, dynamic experiences, ensuring that the concept is in line with the values and needs of companies. Since international politics, our culture, and our social life are full of symbols and abstractions, Máté is confident that he will be able to leverage this knowledge in his academic and professional life.

As a co-founder of the Platform Cultural Center non-profit project, he is motivated to strengthen the local community where he grew up by organizing free-of-charge, quality talks, seminars, and cultural events in the heart of Budapest. He is leading and building a team of active and talented university students, as well as helping to find professional opportunities for them.

This summer, Máté will be joining to the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, where he will support the Competition Policy Team by combining his academic background in international relations with practical research and policy experience. He is going to learn more about how competition policy functions across jurisdictions and how it intersects with international cooperation, diplomacy, and trade policy.

“I am excited to get a better understanding of US foreign policy, the roots of US-China tensions, the policy aspect of the AI race, and experience the vibrant culture of the USA.” – Máté Négyessy
