Veronika Tóth grew up in Eger, a historic town in northern Hungary. During her time at Neumann János High School, she developed a strong interest in public life and international affairs, actively participating in the Interact Club in Rotary, where she were organizing community-based initiatives and volunteer events. These early experiences set her on a path toward public policy and international engagement.
She earned her BA in International Public Management from the National University of Public Service, where she also served as Vice President for Economic Affairs of the International and European Advanced College. Currently, she is pursuing her MSc in International Economy and Business at the Institute of the Hungarian National Bank. Throughout her academic journey, Veronika has developed a growing interest in global security policy and international relations, with a particular focus on European integration and transatlantic cooperation.

Veronika’s growing interests in global security studies have led her to Washington, D.C., where she will join the Center for Immigration Studies as a research intern. Her project will examine how education systems function as pathways for migration.
Motivated by her deep curiosity about international institutions and policymaking, Veronika has gained professional experience through several internships. She worked at the Foundation for a Civic Hungary and the Danube Institute, and gained valuable insight into EU affairs while interning in the European Parliament in the office of MEP Enikő Győri. Currently, she serves as Secretarial Assistant at the Cabinet of the Political Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, where she supports international and domestic political coordination.
Through the Széll Kálmán Fellowship, Veronika hopes to gain direct insight into the workings of American federalism and policymaking while deepening her understanding of transatlantic relations.
The opportunity to live and learn in a global center of political thought will not only enrich my academically and professionally but will also equip me with perspectives to make a meaningful contribution to Hungary. The knowledge and experiences gained are treasures no one can take away. I believe the Széll Kálmán Fellowship will be one of the most formative chapters in my personal and professional journey. – Veronika Tóth
