Matte Keller

Matte Keller is a Hungarian-American rising senior at New Hope–Solebury High School in Pennsylvania. Born in New York City to a Hungarian mother and American father, he grew up surrounded by three cultures—Hungarian, Chinese, and American—that shaped how he sees the world. From studying Mandarin since he was little to attending the United Nations International School, Matte has always been curious about global issues and how people connect across cultures.

His connection to Hungary has been a big part of who he is. In Budapest, he interned with the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation, helping with media, research, and projects that supported Hungarian communities abroad. He also worked at a law firm in Shanghai, assisting with international trademark and intellectual property cases, which gave him a glimpse into global law and diplomacy.

At school, Matte is Vice President of the Model UN club, where he has represented countries such as India and Pakistan in debates on education, development, and world affairs. He’s known for being a collaborative leader who likes using data and teamwork to solve problems.

Outside of academics, he’s a competitive swimmer and record-holder for George School Aquatics, and a proud supporter of the banning of the penny as a currency in the U.S.

“Through the Hungary Foundation, I really want to keep learning about and sharing Hungarian culture. This internship is a great way to help connect Hungary with the world and learn more about diplomacy. I’m excited to work with mentors who share my vision for Hungary’s future and keep building the skills I’ll need to make a difference someday.” – Matte Keller
