Márton Hegedüs arrived in DC in early June for his eight-week internship as part of the summer program of The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) supported by the Hungary Foundation. Márton is in the Public Policy and Economics program and has an elective course in Ethical Leadership. This summer, he has the chance to study different American economic policy issues, read classics like Plato, and discuss issues of moral philosophy.

In addition to his classes at George Mason University, Márton will be interning at RumbleUp, the biggest peer-to-peer texting platform and one of the most dynamically developing technology startups in the US. Márton’s goal at RumbleUp is to gain experience in the American startup sphere. He hopes to learn how to structure a rapidly growing business, acquire investments from venture capital firms, and cultivate relationships with potential clients in DC. He also appreciates the friendly environment of RumbleUp.

When Márton has time to relax and explore DC, he enjoys going for a morning run along the Lincoln and Washington monuments.

About the Széll Kálmán Public Policy Fellowship
The 2019 Summer Széll Kálmán Public Policy Fellowship is a full scholarship for students from Hungary to participate in The Fund for American Studies summer programs in Washington DC.
The 15 week program includes an internship placement in Washington DC, academic credit from George Mason University, housing in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC a variety of guest lectures and briefings, as well as opportunities for professional development and networking. HIF’s scholarship covers full tuition and a living stipend for the duration of the program.
