Andrea Rost’s concert opened the HAC’s 10th Gala Dinner

The Hungary Foundation was one of the main sponsors of the event.

The Hungarian American Coalition hosted its tenth annual Gala Dinner at the House of Sweden in Washington on May 29. The event partly sponsored by the Hungary Foundation honored late Congressman Tom Lantos, Bishop László Tőkés and the Hungarian Communion of Friends. The Gala Dinner started with the concert of the world famous soprano Andrea Rost at the Warner Theatre.

ROST01The 10th Gala Dinner of the Hungarian American Coalition (HAC) honored late Congressman Tom Lantos, Bishop László Tőkés and the Hungarian Communion of Friends.  With its event, HAC also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain and the proclamation of Hungary as a free, democratic republic.

The Gala Dinner started with the concert of the world famous soprano Andrea Rost at the Warner Theatre.  According to the detailed event summary, an enthusiastic audience listened to well-known opera arias and Hungarian folk songs.  Ms. Rost was accompanied by Hungarian-Canadian pianist Gergely Szokolay, who also presented solo works by Bartók, Debussy, Rachmaninoff and R. Strauss.
