In 2026, Málna was awarded the Andrássy National Security Fellowship, supporting her research in Washington, D.C.

Málna is a Visiting Fellow at the GLOBSEC GeoTech Center, where she focuses on digitalization and innovation in the defense sector, with particular attention to NATO’s Eastern Flank and strengthening alignment between Europe and the United States on defense and technology policy.

Her professional experience spans think tanks and policy institutions across Europe and the United States. Most recently, she officiated as a Young Security Fellow at Amerikahaus in Munich. Previously, she held positions at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) in Budapest, Knowledge Ecology International (KEI) in Washington, D.C., and GLOBSEC Headquarters in Bratislava, covering European security policy. At HIIA, she gained experience in foreign policy while serving as presidential staff, coordinating diplomatic relations and engagements alongside public affairs and policy responsibilities. Her research at GLOBSEC GeoTech Center focuses on the evolving intersection of defense, technology, and transatlantic security, with a particular interest in how greater cooperation and information sharing can strengthen Europe’s defense capabilities and innovation ecosystem.

“Our ability to respond to emerging threats will depend on our ability to share information, innovate faster, and better align our defense and technology ecosystems. The next generation of innovators and thinkers will decide humanity’s fate, determining the winners and losers of society. Technology is our biggest strength and threat at the same time–the choice of which one it becomes is ours to make.”  – Málna Vámos

The future of transatlantic security will depend not only on our ability to respond to emerging threats, but also on our ability to innovate, share information, and better align our defense and technology ecosystems.

Málna holds an MSc (Honours) in Crisis and Security Management from Leiden University’s Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, specializing in Intelligence and National Security. During her studies at Leiden, she focused on intelligence sharing among allied states, an area that shaped her perspective on the importance of access to information in security and defense, as well as the role of information sharing in accelerating research and innovation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Ludovika University of Public Service, studying a semester at UCLy Law School, and economics and public policy at George Mason University as a Széll Kálmán Public Policy Fellow. Her academic and professional interests have been shaped by her engagement in numerous transatlantic professional networks covering a wide range of security issues. She is an alumna of The Fund for American Studies and the University of Oxford’s Europaeum program. She is currently a member of the British American Information Security Council (BASIC) Emerging Voices Network, the Women’s Wargaming Network, and the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA).

“As an Andrássy National Security Fellow, I consider it my mission to build enduring relationships between Eastern Europe and Washington, D.C.–relationships that can serve as the foundation for future cooperation across the Atlantic.” – Málna Vámos
